The Not-So-Perfect Pumpkin
My girls haven’t been quite as obsessed with decorating the house in handmade decorations for Halloween this year as they were last year (note: you’re going to want to look at last year’s insanity, for Dr. Dre and “felling Halloweeny”), but there’s still a surprise here and there like this one:
What we do have at our this year is this little pumpkin that Reagan got on a field trip to a local pumpkin patch:
I happen to like his twisty stem. But Reagan wrote a whole story about this pumpkin for school.
I know you can read her perfect handwriting if you want to, but I’ll type it out here in case you don’t feel like blowing up the picture.
My favorite part of our field trip was going to pick out our pumpkins. It was hard because I wanted to get a perfect pumpkin. Before he told us to go pick it out I was looking at one and while I was standing there I decided it was perfect, but sadly when he let us go, someone else got it. So I got a not so perfect one that was covered with warts but I still put it on my porch.
We have to keep bringing it inside because Brinky is trying to destroy it, but isn’t it cute? This story came home with some schoolwork yesterday, and I just love it.
And completely unrelated, a bonus cute boy picture:
Because why would you sit in a high chair when you can stand on it?
Happy Halloween!

10 Past Halloween Costumes
I love to look at old Halloween pictures at this time of year, so of course I’m going to share a few here. 10 of my favorites from the past few years.
A chunky baby Reagan as Stitch. I don’t think she liked it. She certainly fell asleep on me in that costume before the night was done.
Little Jenny as Mulan. Her hair looked just like Brinky’s does now.
A little cheating with a two in one, but this pictures always makes me smile. Wonder Woman Jenny and Princess Reagan doing some kind of powerful poses.
Tinkerbell Reagan with her long hair and cute striped tights.
A Cheetah girl Jenny. Isn’t she cute?
One of Jenny’s favorites: a crazy-eyed green-haired witch.
Can you tell what this one is? It should be obvious. A devil monkey. That’s what Reagan wanted to be for some unknown reason, and since I’m not a crafty mom, we pieced it together from a Littlest Pet Shop monkey costume and devil ears and pitchfork.
Jenny was an angel the same year Reagan was a devil monkey.
Reagan as Batgirl last year.
And Brinky as Wolverine without the hat, and with much less hair than he has now.
Sharing some of my favorites (a week after Halloween costumes was the Monday Listicles topic) as we get ready for this year! I’m not sure how great our pictures will be since they’re all going to have to wear big coats over their costumes if it’s as cold as the forecast says.

These are some of my favorite pictures taken by my brother-in-law, who is much more skilled than I am and has a better camera, during a Halloween weekend visit. I loved all his pictures, but I tried to narrow it down for the post (and will still include too many).
He looks like someone’s trying to steal that sippy cup.
And someone looks completely insane.
Slumber party in the girls’ room. I just had to post the one hilariously featuring Nicole. I love it.
My girls just being themselves.
Brinky. (How beautiful is his eye?)
How awesome was Zero’s pumpkin?
I’ll stop there rather than posting so many from Halloween that I love since I already posted several from that night. Thanks for the pictures, Justin!

Wordless Wednesday: Sick Baby
These awesome family members in town for a special weekend visit for my sister-in-law’s birthday and Halloween (and Zero, who was taking pictures like I was instead of being in the picture):
and this suddenly sick for the first time at 10 1/2 months old baby:
are the reasons I haven’t kept up with posting or tweeting or anything else online the last few days (sorry, Klout – my family’s a lot more important than you are).

I haven’t taken a minute out of our fun-filled long family weekend to post at all. But here I am – with my 10 favorite Halloween pictures taken this evening. (Justin took the best pictures of all, but we’ll just settle for mine tonight.)
1. Batgirl
2. Spider-girl
3. Wolverine (the only moment with the cap on)
4. The whole crew (I know you can easily recognize each of these characters from the costumes.)
5. All three kids – how cute is Reagan cuddling against Jenny and completely blocking Brinkley from view?
6. All three kids again – cutely hanging out in the grass
7. A happy Wolverine
8. Batgirl jumping around with a ponytail in her face
9. Sweet Spider-girl
10. A Wolverine baby butt – I just can’t handle the cuteness of this.
