We love the Fourth of July in our house. Mostly because of fireworks. We purchased our fireworks a few weeks ago (and have resisted setting any off before now). So last night I went down to the basement, where the girls have been hanging out most of the summer so far. I told them I wanted to take some quick pictures of them and their favorite fireworks with my phone for a post. Of course this caused Jenny to run away and scream because she doesn’t like me to take her picture anymore. I told her she was required to allow me to photograph her every once in a while.
This was her finally agreeing. I thought she looked especially pretty yesterday anyway. She grabbed her favorite fireworks – the Roman candles she pretends are Harry Potter wands.
Apparently the light in the basement is horrible at 9:00 at night, so Reagan’s pictures with fireworks looked really creepy and weird, and I’m not posting them. The girls did start having fun and fighting with fireworks until they were told to stop.
And then it turned into the best kind of night – a basement dance party with my girls. They chose the music. We sang and danced and laughed. Brinky wasn’t in bed like he was supposed to be, so he and the cat joined in.
Phone pictures of dancing kids are incredibly blurry, but I think you can tell how much fun they were having, complete with pool noodle limbo.
It’s going to be a fun night at our house tomorrow – and every other night of the summer! There may even be a video of the dance party, but I’ll have to save it for another time.
