Sometimes (a lot of the time) I find that I take a bajillion pictures in a row of my kids doing something cute in an effort to get that perfect picture or effortless Instagram. And then I won’t delete the funny outtakes because I think they’re hilarious and I don’t want to lose that memory. I was deleting some pictures from my phone’s photo gallery today and found a couple series of photos that looked like they could be from one of those classic photobooths – you see a couple people sitting in that same pose over and over again with slight changes to their expressions and poses. So I used my favorite editor PicMonkey to make collages of some of those outtakes.
This first batch is of my girls in the backseat of my car on a road trip to a wedding. And I love them all – even the closed eyes and funny faces.
Next up, Reagan and Brinky hanging out on the couch together (this one’s before Brinky got his haircut obviously). How could I just delete the pretty smiles and crazy faces and squinty eyes? Clearly I couldn’t.
Going through these pictures reminded me of some of the times the girls took tons of pictures of themselves and their brother when he was a teeny baby using Photobooth on the Macbook. These are just some of the ones that made me laugh so hard.
We love to look back at old pictures from our younger days, and our kids’ younger days. And often we find we enjoy some of these funny photos as much as the posed pretty ones. So I’m glad I’m not too quick to delete the not-so-perfect pictures.
Do you save the outtakes, the regular funny moments of everyday life? Or only the perfect ones? Obviously you know my answer.

Ha! I do that, too – but I always delete the outtakes.
I’m gonna keep those from now on, those are just fabulous and I should pay more attention to what my outtakes look like. There might be one or another gem in there.

Oh my Gosh, so much fun! My very favorite is definitely the last one with the baby! Totally cute and fun!
I take lots of pictures at once, too. I usually only delete photos that are hopelessly out of focus or have no visible subject, though; I have a hard time deleting things!

I love the outtakes. I think that those are the best pictures as they capture so much more of their personality and all the silliness. I have a hard time deleting them too. Love the idea of putting them together in a collage like this.

You sound just like me. I have the hardest time deleting any photo. As a result I have about 1000 too many a year!

haha. these are very cute. all of them, but I particularly like the first collage.
I do to take too much picture and have a big problem with deleting those “bad” once (if you can have bad picture of your child…lol)

I love the not so perfect photos too! They always have us laughing. The not so perfect videos are even better.
Also, Reagan’s eyes become more bright blue with every passing day. So pretty!
I LOVE THESE! It’s so funny when I’m trying to get a shot and it’s, like, chaos central and everyone is everywhere. The results are just hysterical!

Oh, I just LOVE this!!! The last few really are funny. Keep them forever, the kids will get such a kick out of it when they’re older.

This is a great idea! My kids love to make those funny pictures and videos on the Mac. Your idea of taking pictures of them in the back seat of the car was brilliant. How did you keep them from “posing”? I especially appreciate it because we’re taking a long road trip this summer and I’ve been trying to think of more creative ways to chronicle our trip.
Haha…my girls used to always pose for pictures and now I can rarely get them to pose! Sometimes it annoys me because I want them to, but usually it means I get lots of fun pictures
Hee! Love this! I *do* save our outtakes because more often than not they’re ones that really capture the moment, and us!
This is such a clever, lovely idea! I absolutely love it!
