Happy Anniversary #iPPP

Yesterday we celebrated an anniversary. Not my blog anniversary (though that happened a couple weeks ago without me even realizing it), but our wedding anniversary. We really don’t make a big deal out of anniversaries, especially our wedding anniversary. If I’m being honest (I try to be), I’ll admit there has been at least one year we both completely forgot our anniversary. Like completely – and randomly realized it two months later. I’ve told the story before of how we met and started dating, way back in high school. So by the time we got married, several years later, we didn’t really feel like it changed our relationship. But sometimes it’s fun to celebrate! Especially because the girls enjoy it.

So we celebrated a little bit yesterday. But we celebrated the way we most like to celebrate. By spending time together. And I got some bonus time because my boss, who is generally awesome, was even more awesome yesterday. We were talking after lunch and I mentioned that it was my anniversary, and he sent me home early! He wanted me to have extra time with my family. Who would turn that down? So I headed home and had some bonus time with Brinkley while Lee worked on his book and the girls were at art camp. The extra time Lee had to work meant that he was available in the evening for fun family time, which involved picking up dinner from one of our favorite restaurants and watching the Olympics. It may not seem like much of a celebration, but it’s our kind of celebration.

Reagan took a picture of us. Doesn’t that look like thirteen (married) years of happiness?

  1. Aw! Happy anniversary! Ours was the 22nd and to be honest (it was our 6th) it was ‘meh’. Too crazy this year with the boys. I can’t believe you guys have been married 13 years- you don’t look it! Love seeing happy couples..they make for happy families.

    • Thank you – and happy belated anniversary to you!

  2. Yes, you guys look like best friends. :) Happy Anniversary!

    • Thanks – we are :)

  3. Happy Anniversay! Ours is a week before Christmas and we are usually at a party with other folks. Looks like you all are in love.

    • Aw, thank you – we are :)

  4. Aw, that picture is so full of happy!! Happy anniversary, you two!

    • Thanks, Greta!

  5. I love that photo! I love you guys. I’m sure Zero and I would have forgotten our wedding anniversary this year, except Reagan texted that morning about it, which was so cute and sweet.

    • It was so funny – that was one of Reagan’s first thoughts when she got up in the morning. She didn’t realize it was our anniversary yesterday until I mentioned it – clearly you’re her favorite person :)

  6. Any “date” that involves take-out is a win for me. As long as I don’t have to cook, I’m happy! And a happy anniversary to you!

    • We love takeout – and it’s much less stressful than sitting in a restaurant with three kids. Thanks!

  7. We were celebrating with you! We watched the Olympics and ate dessert in front of the TV.

Congrats on keeping that smile and spark! (And your boss…wow!!)

    • Thanks, Kristen – I was feeling pretty lucky yesterday :)

  8. Happy Anniversary! We just celebrated our 14th this May. It seems like such a short time and such a long time – all at the same time, doesn’t it?

    • Exactly right! And thank you :)

  9. Happy anniversary!
Your kind of celebration is right up my alley – that’s what we do as well (when we don’t forget ;) ).

    • We’re pretty low-key here. Thank you!

  10. Happy Anniversary! That sounds like the PERFECT way to celebrate :)

    • Thanks, Alison – it was perfect for us!

  11. Popped in from Saturday Sharefest to say hi!

    • Hi! Thanks for stopping by :)
