We got the final report cards for this school year, and it’s official. My girls are both smarty pants. You may have thought it was official before because it’s not like they haven’t done well all year, but I always think the final report card makes it official. So I’m going to brag about them for just a minute (even though I think they’re currently fighting and generally being terrible on Lee’s birthday).
Jenny finished 5th grade, her last year of elementary school, her first year in the academically gifted program, with straight A’s! She’s very excited to be moving onto middle school next year. I suspect it’s going to be a challenge for her, so she should be ready to work hard, but I know she can continue to do well.
Reagan finished 2nd grade, her last year without real grades, with above grade level expectations ratings in math, reading, and writing. She’s a little annoyed to only be at grade level in science and social studies, but I don’t think the teachers really give anything above grade level for subjects they don’t really focus on, so it’s okay. We also got a cool report with her report card that informed us she’s reading at the level of a 7th grader halfway through the school year. Pretty cool, right? She’s very happy to be moving to 3rd grade and the academically gifted program, mostly because she’s so happy that she’ll start getting grades. I never posted what she listed in her yearbook as her favorites at the end of the year like I did with Jenny, but her favorites weren’t that exciting. They were pretty much the same as Jenny’s, which aren’t Reagan’s true favorites anyway. But she did list what she thinks she’ll be in the future: “I’m gonna be president, losers.” Such a sweet girl.

That’s so awesome!! They are definitely smarty pants.
I was with Reagan when she filled out her favorites. She said, “I’m gonna be president, losers!” and I told her she had to make sure she included the “losers!” part when she wrote it out. It was fun. Those girls are the best.
I’m so glad you told her to do that!
