A Box (not even slightly wordless Wednesday)

I feel like I’m being lazy this week so far with picture-filled posts. But I like sharing pictures. And I haven’t had time to do much more than that, so…I’ll continue with my usual Wednesday picture post.

Our microwave broke last week. We kind of need a microwave, and we knew we wouldn’t want to try Thanksgiving without one available, so I went and got a new one immediately. Our plan was to remove the old one and install the new one ourselves. After all, we had to remove and install a new disposal earlier this year, and we managed that. So surely we could do this, right? Well, I wouldn’t say it was easy, mostly because it was really heavy (which Lee can handle actually) and because I’m incapable of properly measuring things. But we did it! And it looks so nice. And it works.

What I didn’t realize would be the best thing about the new microwave though? The giant box it came in. Jenny immediately thought of it as a place to sit and watch TV. And her siblings joined in the fun.

This was last Friday. It’s still filled with pillows and blankets and being used as Jenny’s night time place to watch TV. Maybe our couches aren’t comfortable?

And completely unrelated, Brinky’s been sick the last few days. He has an ear infection. And he’s NOT happy about it. He’s had trouble sleeping and eating. Pretty much he’s having trouble existing. So he has to take his naps where and when he feels like he can. Isn’t he cute? Even though he’s sick?

And with Germaine for a special Picnesday.

  1. Aw, poor guy! I know how he feels. :(

And also, the microwave does look nice, and big boxes are the best!

    • I’m pretty sure my kids are going to live in this big box forever. Fortunately baby’s feeling better.

  2. Ugh! Ear aches are the worst! Wishing your little guy a speedy recovery!

    • He’s fortunately feeling much better now – no fever at least!

  3. I used to keep a big box around until I was way too old to justify it. Because it was MINE.

    So I totally get it.

Hope the little guy feels better soon!

    • I think my oldest wants to use it as her place to hide out from her siblings forever.

  4. Don’t feel guilty for photo filled posts! Remember, a picture tells 1000 words. (-:

  5. He is so cute! The box is better than the gift at my house.

  6. Aw, poor guy. He’s always cute even when he’s finding it difficult to exist. Hope he gets well soon! I’ve found big boxes to be the best toys for kids – I even converted one into a rocket for my son :)
Thanks for joining me over at Kimberly’s :)

    • Interesting…maybe we should let them get creative and at least decorate the box.

  7. My cat can relate to your kids. With all the soft beds we have in the house, she has taken over the box in which we keep newspapers to recycle. It’s become a permanent part of our decor, lol. I hope your little guy feels better soon!

    • He’s feeling much better – thanks! And thanks for stopping by.

  8. Poor Brinky! :-( I hope he feels better very soon.

    Nice job on the microwave!

    • Thank you – he’s feeling much better now (I say as he’s up in his crib suddenly screaming).

  9. Hope your little bit gets better soon. Ear aches stink. I would love an overhead microwave, nice!!

  10. I hope he feels better! Zane is sick too:( I love the box photo. Great prop:)

    • Hope Zane’s doing better! Brinky’s feeling much better now. And they’re still loving the box :)

  11. When Luke had an ear infection a few weeks ago he slept like 15 hours a day! He could not wake up for anything. It’s funny how they react different ways. I hope he feels better soon. BTW we have the same microwave..microwave brain twins!

    • I remember my middle girl just wanting to sleep if she was sick – I WISH that was his reaction! He’s starting to do better.

lol about being microwave brain twins :) I hope you’re liking the microwave and it was a good choice for us!

  12. At least you got a 2 for 1 deal on the microwave. Microwave for mom, and toy for the kids! Gotta love when that happens!

    • Exactly! They’re still hanging out in the box – not sure how long we’re going to have to leave it sitting in our family room!

  13. Oh, cute! I love how they all squeezed in that box. It’s always about the box, isn’t it?

    • It actually looks pretty comfortable now that it’s full of cushions and blankets :) Brinky does NOT like the box without his sisters though.
